Dorothy Canfield Fisher

Dorothy Canfield Fisher(1879–1958) was an American author, social reformer, and educational activist who was a founding member of the Book-of-the-Month Club. She was also a highly prolific writer of novels and nonfiction work for adults and children.

The Home-Maker(1924), one of the ten bestselling novels of that year, is a landmark work in feminist and domestic fiction. It uses literary realism to explore traditional gender roles, maternal guilt, and family dynamics — a bold perspective that’s rarely seen in early 20th century literature.
